Black Walnut Spice Cake Ingredients: 1 cup chopped black walnuts 1 / 2 cup shortening 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar 3 eggs, separated 3 cups flour use a chemical divided 1 / 2 teaspoon salt / 1 2 c. teaspoon ground / 1 v. teaspoon cinnamon nutmeg 1 2 / 2 v. Tea nail ground cloves tbsp cooking 3 / 4 cup milk butter Cinnamon Frosting chopped walnuts Directions: Place 1 cup of chopped nuts in water boiling 3-5 minutes, drain and set aside. Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, beating well. Add egg yolks and beat well. Mix 2 3 / 4 cups flour, baking powder, salt and spices and mix well. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with milk, starting and ending with flour mixture. Mix well after each addition. Dredge halibut in the nuts 1 / 4 cup of flour in the dough time. whites Beat eggs (room temperature) until stiff peaks form, fold into the batter. Pour into 3 greased and floured 8-inch square cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out own. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, remove layers of pans and cool completely. Spread frosting between butter cinnamon layers and on top and sides of cake. Garnish with more chopped nuts. Yield: 3 cake. Buttery Cinnamon Frosting: 1 cup butter or margarine softened 7 1 / 2 cups sifted powdered sugar, divided 1 1 / 4 c. teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 / 8 c. teaspoon salt 1 / 4 cup + 1 tablespoon to January 2 tablespoons milk / 2 tsp Tea extract vanilla butter cream in a mixing bowl together. Mix 2 cups powdered sugar, cinnamon and salt, gradually add butter, beat with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour. Add vanilla, coconut and black mix well. Beat the egg whites, at room temperature with cream of tartar until peaks form firm, then fold the dough. Pour batter into 3 greased and floured cake pans 9 inches. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, or until that cake tests done. Cool 10 minutes, then unmold and let cool. Black Walnut Ice Cream with Butter Frosting. Black Walnut Cake 2 cups Sheet sugar 2 cups flour 1 tbsp tea. soda 1 / 2 c. tea. salt 2 sticks, margarine 4 T. cocoa 1 water 1 / 2 cup cup buttermilk 2 eggs Sift the ingredients dry in a bowl. Melt margarine and mix with the cocoa and water. Bring to rapid boil and pour over dry ingredients. Add buttermilk and eggs.
