How much is a game of chess with real pieces of carved ivory worth it?
I have a game of chess with the board carrying case that was purchased in Hong Kong in the 1970s. The pieces are carved from ivory elephant tusk (Not cool, but not much I can do now). There is an Asian theme with great attention to detail on the parts. The case is wood a bit roughed up. The pieces are in excellent condition. A set is stained brown, the other natural. Sets are distinct, but similar in style. King measures 4.25. "Clues to this place to sell what and how much it worth? I have not seen anything similar on eBay. In other sites I have seen ivory chess sets go from $ 500 to $ 3,000.
It really depends on whether or not you can find someone who wants to buy. Ultimately, nothing is worth what someone is willing to pay you for it. I suggest you take it to an antique dealer or estate appraiser in your area. They usually have a good idea of these objects and should be able to give you a guess as to its possible value a sale.
